Mattia’s journey into the world of fine art began long before he ever picked up a tattoo machine; as a child in Rome, his school notebooks were famously filled with more doodles than notes. By the age of 17, he traded the classroom for the studio, beginning his professional journey in Italy. He refined his craft and mastered the “old school” discipline of technical precision and station integrity under the mentorship of Maestro Massimo at MAMA Tattoo. Now, with 15 years of experience, Mattia has brought his Roman heritage and elite skill set to the Inked Miami team in South Beach.

Specializing in Black & Grey Realism with a sophisticated illustrative edge, Mattia views every tattoo as a permanent investment in a client’s personal narrative. He is particularly renowned for his ability to translate the grandeur of Italian stone—specializing in statues and portraits—into skin. Heavily influenced by the chiaroscuro techniques of Caravaggio, Mattia’s work is defined by a dramatic play between light and shadow, utilizing negative space to make his saturated blacks truly “pop.” For Mattia, a successful project is one where multiple subjects flow seamlessly together, creating a cohesive, anatomical masterpiece rather than just a collection of individual images.

When he isn’t at the studio elevating the art of life, Mattia stays true to his active roots through soccer, snowboarding, and travel. Despite his world-class portfolio and extensive travels between Rome and New York, he remains grounded by his favorite companion—his Bengal cat, Leo.
